Local and global missions opportunities

Serve at SMLC

Get involved by serving our church family! From the children’s ministry to ushering and hospitality, there’s a role for you here!

Serve the church

Serve on Sundays

Sundays are amazing at SMLC! We offer traditional and contemporary worship, coffee house, children’s ministry, youth ministry, and more! We have several opportunities to get involved – musician, vocalists, greeter, usher, Sunday school teacher, youth group leaders, become a coffee house barista.

Serve During the Week

Throughout the week, there are many places to serve and get plugged in. We need people to help out in the office, preschool, trustee (handyman), funerals, Christian care, visitations, and more.

Serve in a Group

Small groups are the best way to get to know people and dive into God’s Word. Consider joining a group or helping to lead a group. We also have many other fellowship groups, such as Women’s, Men’s, and OWLS (Older Wiser Lutherans).

Serve our community and world

St. Mark partners with several organizations throughout the Valley.

Feed My Starving Children

During three sessions in 2023 at Feed My Starving Children in Mesa, a total of 93 St. Mark volunteers packed or supported the production of 142 boxes or 30,672 meals!

FMSC offers volunteers a one-of-a-kind experience. You’ll hand-pack rice, soy, dried vegetables and a nutritionally complete blend of vitamins and minerals into bags which are then sealed, boxed, placed on pallets and shipped to our incredible partners working hard to reach the neediest children around the world.

Through volunteering at FMSC, you’ll get the chance to impact hundreds of kids in just two hours per packing shift. You’ll experience what it’s like to make a tangible difference today.

Children as young as 5 years of age may volunteer with an adult.

Click on the button below for more information about how sign up for the next event on Saturday, September 21 at 12 pm.

In 2023 the Knit Wits group, (13 active ladies) lovingly knitted 427 hats, nine lap pads, and three baby blankets. 140 of those hats were donated to Arizona Helping Hands; nine lap pads were donated to Pastor Tim/Stone Ridge Hospice; and 90 baby hats went to Maggie’s Place. Honor Health provides yarn for the group and the remaining hats were donated to their nursery. More donation sites have been established with the yarn that is purchased or donated by local friends. Join us in person or knit from home. For more information, contact Dottie Hoffman.

Tabitha Quilters

First and Third Thursdays of the month, 10:30am–12:30pm

Fellowship Hall

We have received many donations of fabric, and we are grateful.  However, at this time we are not able to accept any more fabric as our cupboards are overflowing.  God has blessed our little quilting group!

Tabitha Quilters made 48 quilts in 2023.  24 of those
quilts will go to Mexico when members of SMLC go to build a home in Agua Prieta. Several quilts were also given to Pastor Tim/Stone Ridge Hospice for their patients.
